OpenAI Ads (ChatGPT)

Forward conversions to OpenAI's Ads platform (ChatGPT) via the Conversions API and import ad spend for ROAS.

OpenAI launched advertising in ChatGPT in 2026 with a self-serve Ads Manager, a server-side Conversions API (CAPI) and a measurement pixel. Tugus forwards your conversions to it and can import ad spend for ROAS reporting.

For the connection you need the Pixel ID and an API key from the OpenAI Ads Manager.

Open the Ads Manager

Sign in to the OpenAI Ads Manager and open your advertiser account.

Copy the Pixel ID

Under Measurement → Pixel, copy the Pixel ID. Tugus sends conversions to this pixel via the Conversions API.

Create an API key

Create an API key with access to the Conversions API (and, for ad-spend import, read access to the Ads/Insights API). Copy it immediately — it is shown only once.

Connect in Tugus

In the dashboard under Settings → Integrations, add OpenAI Ads and enter the Pixel ID and API key. For ROAS, also set your ad account currency. Check delivery in the Live Stream.

Ad spend & ROAS

Once connected with a key that can read insights, Tugus imports your OpenAI Ads spend daily and joins it to your conversions by campaign — so ROAS, CPO and CPC show up alongside your other channels. Cost import runs automatically; you can also trigger it manually.

The "AI advertising" channel

Clicks from ChatGPT ads carry an opaque click reference (oppref). Tugus attributes them to a dedicated AI advertising channel (ai_ads) — kept separate from paid search and social, and distinct from ai_agent (agentic commerce). This keeps ad-driven ChatGPT traffic from being mislabelled as "Direct".

Consent applies as with other CAPIs: personal identifiers are only sent with marketing consent; the opaque click reference travels consent-independently so attribution still works.
